The Upstairs Dance studio is a large, light and airy space, suitable for all types of rehearsals.
MoreOvalhouse is a lively theatre and arts centre based on the Kennington Oval right opposite the famous cricket ground. We provide a warm welcome to our audience members, practitioners, patrons and workshop members.
Ovalhouse is open Monday – Saturday, with performances in our two theatres on Tuesday- Saturday. During the weekdays the spaces are open for rehearsals and hires from 10am. Our youth classes operate Monday – Saturday during term times,
The Gallery at Ovalhouse is open to the public from Tuesdays – Saturdays when there are shows on. The café is open from Midday until close, and you can view our gallery at those times as well. MORE INFO

Downstairs dance studio
The Downstairs Dance Studio is a large room with a big skylight for added natural light. It is suitable for all types of rehearsal, and is also often used as a workshop or seminar space.
MoreTheatre upstairs
Our Upstairs theatre is an intimate studio theatre, usually black box, with its own dressing room and flexible seating. The space can be configured in a traditional end-on set up, in thrust, or as an immersive environment.
MoreTheatre downstairs
Our downstairs theatre is our biggest space. Like the upstairs space, its configuration is flexible: it has been used for installations, in traverse, deep thrust and end-on set ups. When configured in thrust, the playing space is of a size comparable with many mid-scale venues. The theatre seats up to 150, and has a large, accessible newly refurbished dressing room.

Red studio
The Red Studio situated on the ground floor of Ovalhouse, has a built in screen and projector, making it ideal for seminars and presentations, screenings, readings and auditions. We have an in house technician who will fully set up the projector for you, so all you have to provide is your laptop. We have a café which makes an ideal area for breaks plus food and hot drinks are catered for via the café manager.
MoreCafé & Bar
The café at Ovalhouse covers a large ‘L’ shaped area and has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere, with the capacity to set up a small P.A system. The café is ideal for coffee mornings, regular social group meetings and private events. To hire the café please contact Annika Brown. Events can be catered by our café manger or self catered. Hire would also include the cost of duty cover for the event and any technical support required.
