Writer in Residence
Ninaz Khodaiji
Thanks to a grant from the Arts Council's 'grants for the arts' scheme, we have also recently been joined by Ninaz Khodiji who will be based at Oval House Theatre over the next 4 months as writer-in-residence. Ninaz trained in Mumbai with Satya Dev Dubey, then studied acting at the Herbert Berghof Studio and Lee Strasberg Institute and advanced screen writing at the School of Visual Arts, all in New York. Ninaz has acted in over 18 plays, and directed seven, including The Wasteland, Charivari and Insomnia. She has written two plays, Close Quarters, co-written with Bharti Jaffrey, and Insomnia, published by Samuel French Ltd. Ninaz will use her residency here to work on a new script 'Strangers', a piece which will look at the barriers between people of different backgrounds in an attempt to understand and celebrate the things that connect us. It is hoped that 'Strangers' will premiere at Oval House in 2006.
