Writers group
Tunde Euba runs our writers' group and writing support network which meets once a month at Oval House.. The group aims to support and develop new writing, to expose the work to an audience, to funders, programmers and actors.Several of the plays by current members are featured in our First Bites season, our new showcase of script-in-hand performances.
How to Join
If you would like to join the Oval House Writers Group, you must first join the Waiting List. You can join if you meet and agree with the following criteria:
- All writers applying should have written a full-length play
- All writers must be committed to the group
- The group meet once a month
- Every time we meet exercises are given and these must be completed
- All writers will be paired with a mentor from the group. This entails writers from the group to monitor one another's work and to have a personal relationship with each other's work.
- There will be times when one writer's work will be the focus of the group.
- Professional actors will read all the plays.
- Deadlines will be set and should be met on time.

Tunde Euba as The Boss in "Gods and Bad Guys"
Tunde’s relationship with Oval House started in 1996 as assistant director on the production of A PLAY FOR JIMMY BALDWIN. Since then it has grown stronger and he has returned again and again as an actor, director, workshop facilitator and writer.
In 2000 Tunde wrote and performed GODS & BAD GUYS at Oval House. Three years later he started a residency here, which ended last year (2005) During his residency he wrote four plays that went to production including BRAND NEW ME for Oval House.
Other plays include RED, WHITE, BLACK AND BLUE for Greenwich and Lewisham Young Peoples Theatre, PORTRAIT FOR PROSPERITY for V&A Museum and CHANGES and PECKIN’ ME SHED both for Cardboard Citizens.
Presently, Tunde has two plays in development; BEHIND CLOSED DOORS a devised piece bound for the Edinburgh Festival this summer and NO GOING BACK for The MAC (Midland Arts Centre), which goes into production this October.
