Truth About Youth

A project designed to turn the widespread negative image of young people on its head and tell people the Truth About Youth in the south London boroughs of Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. Truth About Youth is The Co-operative Foundation’s £280,000 project in South London, being run in partnership with Ovalhouse, to challenge and change the perceptions of young people.

Ovalhouse has engaged 10 Young Associates aged 16-21 to join the two-year project and engage with people from a variety of sectors including the media, the police and local shopkeepers to try and discover why young people are often marginalised.

So far, the young people have created original performances, exhibitions, artwork and events to engage audiences of local press, senior citizens, the local police and councillors. Year two will continue to build relationships with the community through inclusive events, workshops and performances all designed to promote a positive image of London’s young.

Our Under 26 page lists all of our current Truth About Youth activity. We also have a Truth about Youth YouTube page, where you can see all of our latest videos.
