Our Student Ambassadors
Meet some of our Student Ambassadors...
My name is April and I’m 20. I like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain. I love all theatre from musicals to pantomime to expressionism; honestly I am a bit of a theatre geek. You'll normally find me in an overpriced coffee shop procrastinating or at a museum. I spend three fifths of my life reading; articles, fiction, non-fiction, blogs. If it’s written down I’ll probably be reading it.

I'm Ashleigh Hawthorne, a 19 year old Northern Irish lass. Graduate of the Guildhall Preliminary Acting Course, keen Ukulele player and Illustrative artist. Delving into the London theatre scene with a particular interest in Greek Literature, Classical Adaptions, New Writing, and Physical Theatre pieces. My goals for this year are to better my critical analysis of theatre and to learn skate.

I am a student at Oxford University studying French and Russian. I found a real love for theatre on my year abroad. I was lucky enough to live in a city called Yaroslavl', the site of Russia's first official theatre, the Volkov Theatre. In my time there, I saw amazing productions by theatre companies touring the country. Plus, I had the opportunity to see productions elsewhere, from Moscow to Ekaterinburg. When I got back, feeing inspired, I decided to translate and direct Chekhov's famous Cherry Orchard with a friend of mine. This year I've completed courses at RADA and RCSSD. I was also in Government Inspector with SEDOS, which had runs in London and Edinburgh Fringe. Tweet me your thespy thoughts, feelings and recommendations @AuroraAmoureuse
Yo! The name's Caleb, I'm 18 and currently studying for an Extended Diploma in Performing arts with the end goal of getting into drama school!
I don't live in London but I might as well! I'm always in London whether it be to watch cool thought provoking pieces of theatre or to attend great theatre workshops! I've been a member of the Rada Youth Company the past year which has been amazing! I love to run! I also love to make music too! Oh and I'm a twin!
My name is Christine Mears and I am currently in my first year at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance studying BA (Hons) European Theatre Arts in which I am learning to perform, devise and direct. I am especially interested in physical and contemporary devised theatre and I hope to establish my own theatre company once I graduate. I enjoy experiencing new things and it is my current ambition to learn and perform circus acrobatics, especially the aerial hoop! Along with theatre, I also love to sing and I am part of the vintage cabaret singing group, The Ladies In Red.
I'm 21, in my third year studying Geography at UCL. I grew up in Brighton, which has such a diverse and rich cultural scene that it inspired my love of theatre/dance/all things creative. I'm a sucker for musical theatre and anything Shakespeare! I'm really interested in contemporary theatre scenes, which seems to be bringing lots of interesting, challenging solo performances and addressing contentious and difficult issues, such as identity, abuse, discrimination, depression etc, which have not (until reasonably recently) been as widely presented. I think theatre is a great way of improving understanding of these issues. I'm keen to get back into being involved in some theatre - both in acting and production roles.
My name is Lucy Howell, a student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I'm a northerner who is losing her accent but still has all her powers left from her milk teeth. Dances with left feet (and left hands). Wished more people rolled down hills. I'm currently in my first year of BA Performance and Creative Enterprise in which I'm devising new work underpinned by social activism. I'm very much interested in devising new narratives that explore uncomfortable subjects in both theatre, spoken word poetry and live installations. Alongside my studies, I have worked as a producer with Fuel, as a drama facilitator at Stratford Circus and most recently joined the Young Creatives collective at The Albany. Theatre has been consistently a massive part of my life and I'm excited to see what opportunities Ovalhouse can bring. I'm 20 years old born and brought up South London, and currently applying to drama school. I have a huge interest in all aspects of theatre and travelling and hope one day to make a career with the two. I have experience as a director and actor and am part of Southwark Playhouse Young Company and Oxford World Theatre- an organisation that commissions you to go around the world and direct plays with children. With them I have travelled to Russia.
Hey! My name's Rachel and I'm currently a third year Drama and Performance student at London South Bank University. I have a vast and diverse passion for all things theatre and hope to further my experiences in acting, directing, writing and devising. Alongside my studies and working on the South Bank market I also enjoy movies and books.
I'm Rachel, I'm 19 and I study Drama and Performance at London South Bank University. Theatre has always been my passion which I want to turn into my lifelong career. I specifically want to focus on facilitation in theatre. If I can use my passion for drama to benefit and bring about positive difference in people's lives, then I believe I will have the most rewarding and enjoyable job there could be! Becoming a student ambassador for Oval will be a great opportunity to network and learn as much about the theatre as I possibly can.
