On 15 September 2017, Development Director and professional soprano, Katie Milton, was joined by Vanessa Ashbee, Claudina Edwards and Musical Director, Nick Bland, who all gave their time and talents to raise £1,000 for the Capital Campaign and our move to Brixton.
Opening with Lady Is A Tramp, along with Let There Be Love, Lullaby of Broadway and finishing with Thank You For the Music, the audience had the opportunity to join in along the way!
Soprano Vanessa Ashbee, sang solos So in Love by Cole Porter, Don't Cry For Me Argentina from Evita with a fabulous version of There Are Fairies at the Bottom of our Garden.
Claudina wowed with renditions of Billie Holliday’s God Bless the Child, Funny Valentine and Nina Simone’s Don’t Explain.
Katie sang operatic numbers including Brindisi from La Traviata, Love is Where You Find It, and Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again from Phantom of the Opera.
Our Maestro, Nick, played all night without a break, unlike the ladies! He treated us to his own solos, Theme from The Summer of '42 by M. Legrand and Night & Day by Cole Porter, with both pieces arranged Peter Nero.
The audience enjoyed Espresso Martinis from our bar, which were sold in aid for the appeal, which all helped to a most enjoyable evening.
