CASA Latin American Theatre Festival is back! Join us for ten days of award-winning international theatre from Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico and brand new work from the UK’s most exciting emerging Latin American theatre makers.
All shows are presented in Spanish or Portuguese with English surtitles, except where you see “Language no problem” which are shows that don’t use words.
We’ve also got an exciting programme of workshops, pre-show talks, post-show discussions, live music and for the very first time, delicious Latin American food and drink served all festival long.

Performed using traditional north-eastern Brazilian masks and music, this darkly comic fairy-tale has won over fifty national theatre awards. Come and discover the magical city where ugly women rule and men are killed on sight.

An ode to the Mexican journalists who have been abused, tortured or murdered for revealing uncomfortable truths, this one woman show about a female journalist is the political heart of this year’s festival.

Dive into the world of La Llorona and discover this physical sexy debut piece by last year’s CASA Scratch Night winners. This is storytelling without words where the quotidien is reimagined and fuelled by a pumping soundtrack.

Language No Problem
Six clowns are rounded up and thrown on a train to an unknown destination. Over the course of their journey, they try to make sense of a world where anything is possible. Performed with great physical and musical skill, this is wordless theatre at its most moving.

Part history lesson, part musical comedy, this show for all ages won Chile’s National Theatre Critic’s Award for Best Play in 2010. Based on the letters that Chile’s first royal governor wrote to King Charles V of Spain, three actor musicians tell the true story of one of the most infamous episodes in Chile’s history.
