The UK’s most delicious spoken word event is back in partnership with Ovalhouse. Hosted by Dean Atta and Deanna Rodger, warmly welcoming audiences from all walks of life to a feast of the finest poets, lyricists and musicians.

Starter - Arielle John

An up and coming poet to whet your appetite.

Arielle represented Trinidad and Tobago in the Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam competition and was a finalist in the ‘Speak Green’ environmental poetry competition. Arielle was a member of the Brooklyn College Poetry Slam Team, which placed second in America at the National Inter-College Poetry Slam (CUPSI) in 2013. Author of chapbook ‘Songs in a Strange Land’, Arielle is now developing the manuscript for her first full-length collection of poems.

Main Course - Indigo Williams

​A poet to sink teeth into and digest slowly.

Indigo Williams is a British Nigerian poet, writer and Spoken Word Educator from Brixton. She is passionate about the ways art can transform the way we perceive the world and its ability to facilitate critical consciousness. 

She is one half of the art collective, I Shape Beauty, an art collective that creates installations using poetry, costume, textile, visual art and projection mapping.

She has performed and had her work featured at Tedx Brixton, Tedx UCL, Glastonbury, BBC Radio 4 Bespoken Word and across the UK and Europe.

Dessert - Boe Huntress

The sweet treat, someone who will bring a smile to your face!

Boe Huntress has played live on Radio 2, BBC6 music, on Charlie Brookers BBC4 programme, and featured in the Guardian and Independent. She explores themes around the wild woman and female archetypes.
