RUACH

Created and performed by Brian Lobel

Created and performed by Brian Lobel.

Socialisation is like a folk dance lesson: seemingly-innocuous, potentially-traumatising, mandatory.

  • Thu 7 Jun – Sat 9 Jun, 9:00pm

Venue: Upstairs

Please note that, regrettably, the upstairs theatre is not currently accessible for wheelchair users.

Being certified is very important to Brian. Luckily for us, he is a certified folk-dance instructor.
Join Brian in a dance lesson you will never forget – Brian hasn’t forgotten it since he learnt it at camp as a teenager and he wants to pass his experience and knowledge on to YOU.
RUACH is the new work in development from the brilliant and energetic performer: Brian Lobel, join him as he takes you on a tour of the highs and lows of childhood religiosity, youth groups, and sexuality. RUACH is a rich and textured show that takes you on a journey that is funny, thought provoking and life-affirming.  Come ready to dance, laugh and sing along to some of the best Yiddish tunes you have ever heard!

An Ovalhouse FiRST BiTE: new performance pieces, currently in development and presented as work-in-progress showings.

Ruach is a part of our OUTLAWS season:  a collection of work which runs on unruly idealism, is disarmingly playful, humbly ambitious and often still evolving. OUTLAWS contains more work-in-development than any previous season at Ovalhouse; an invitation to audiences to shape what is to come and a statement of our commitment to helping ideas become theatre.
