THE COMPANY
Io Theatre Company brings The Snow Spider to life on stage and features original music by James Lark (composer of Miracles at Short Notice - MusicalTalk pick of the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe Festival).
An ensemble of seven actor-musicians create the physicality and movement of the performance, underpinned by exquisite lighting; they evoke the magical world of rural, wild, Wales. The Snow Spider herself is played by seven hand puppets – one operated by each actor. Creating an otherworldly feel, communicating the strangeness of this tale and reflecting the rich choral language of Welsh folk music, the multi-talented company perform the music live with harp, violins, percussion, ukulele, harmonica, recorder, toy piano and their voices.
Suitable for ages 7+
Recent productions include: Lysistrata - Watford Palace Theatre production (main house and schools’ tour, January-March 2009) and their own award-winning sell-out production Tony Blair - The Musical (London, Edinburgh and tour, July-September 2007).]
