Ovalhouse Creative Youth kicks off our autumn arts programme with an evening of original beats, words, rhymes and rhythm, celebrating young London talent.

The evening will feature spoken word artists, musicians, DJs and more; all produced by our brilliant team of Young Associates.

Special guests from the PALAVA project will be performing. PALAVA is a youth music project using lyric writing, recording and production to support young people living in Lambeth.

PALAVA is a youth music project using lyric writing, recording and production to support young people living in Lambeth.PALAVA moved from Stockwell Community Centre to Ovalhouse in Summer 2017 Sessions are led by professional artists, DJs and Youth Workers: It is delivered by Silas Zephania, DJ Genesis and Ebz Lawson. There are opportunities to gain accreditations, meet artists in the industry, and perform your own music on stage and live on radio. The project is delivered by Class Of Poets, Flames Radio and Young People Matter. For ages 14-21. Palava is funded by Hyde Housing and Battersea Power Station Foundation

Timmy is an intelligent young man who applies that cognition when writing lyrics and speaking with eloquence and passion. He is a natural leader who encourages his peers by setting an example and offering constructive praise. He is evidence of the outstanding Hip Hop contribution we have among our young artists. Timmy is inspired by 90's Hip Hop culture. Artists like Kool G Rap, Nas and more are central to the standard he seeks to emulate. Timmy is known as Intellect Supreme.

Kyron has a natural ability to flow vocally over music composition. He is an independent writer who is able to construct poetry with meaning. He participates in meaningful discussions with insight and he displays a precocity that sets an example for others. Kyron is inspired by conscious Hip Hop artists such as Tupac and utilises the flow examples of rappers like Ice Cube. Kyron is known as K2J.

Cykara Amimli-Haye is a 15 year old up & coming singer and actress from South London, blessed with a soothing & soulful voice Cykara has dreams of becoming established in the creative industry.

Amilia Smith has been attending Palava for the past last, where she has displayed her talent for spoken word a confident and vocal young lady with lots to say​

Kamar Ballentine AKA Kay B is a 16 year old student from south London, who has
been rapping for just over 1 year and has dreams becoming an artist.

GROUNDED UK came together in 2015 off the back of Breaking classes run by Sunanda 'sunsun' Biswas and Lil' tim Hamilton, GROUNDED UK have already performed at the Studio B launch -Brixton , Lambeth Country show , boxing exhibition in east London and Southbank centre for grounded’s swing and jam event. They have  battled at BSupreme 2015, 2016 at the Southbank Centre, rain crew jam, uk Bboy champs and one of the members recently got through to step 2 of the youth Olympics and travelled to Germany this year to compete.

Directed by Sunanda Biswas, GROUNDED UK are the battle and performance crew element of GROUNDED MOVEMENT, they consist of all generations from 8 years upwards. Today’s dancers: Tim Hamilton, Tyrone Hope, Marcus Hales-Johnson, Jamie Berry, Angel M'paria, Tiva Martina, Ray-Jones, Raheim Rose

CAMERON COOK offers a high-energy, low-budget, one-man performance, spawned out of anxiety, frustration, and residual optimism about it all. Previously peformed at Live Night.

SHAZ RAHMAN: Hip hop/Grime Versatile Artist From South East London. Currently working on his Debut EP Titled ‘Motions’ with tracks like ‘Motion’ and ‘Addiction’ in there. Track 1 titled ‘Motion(Part 1) on the EP is Shaz’s first track this song has a Playful, Futuristic Grimey and rythmic sound with a mixture of afrocentric dancehall melodies. sounds like a kanye west, drake type Rap. Shaz is a socially-conscious 23-year-old Artist/Musician from south east London. Shaz has already completed two original mixtapes in his trademark lyrically sophisticated style. Motivated by his desire to positively impact young, inner city urban music fans, meaningful social commentary is reflected strongly throughout his lyrics.

Though a relative newcomer to the hip hop scene, with his distinctive flow and varsity style Shaz is certainly one to watch.

LIVE NIGHT! is supported by the Cultural Education Challenge, an ambitious three year programme designed to bring about a step-change in Cultural Education and young people’s cultural engagement in London. It is led by A New Direction, with funding from Arts Council England through Bridge funding. The programme has funded seven lead partner organisations to work with over 100 organisations ranging from housing associations, social enterprises, early years settings, local authorities, cultural organisations and schools.
