The Dolls of New Albion, A Steampunk Opera is a ninety minute, four act musical.  Each short act follows a different generation of the McAlistair family in the fantastic city of New Albion.

The story begins when lonely scientist Annabelle attempts to revive a dead lover.  Her actions set into motion an escalating series of events, which will alter the world around them. A key member of each generation of McAlistair makes a crucial and flawed choice motivated by selfish love. The fate of New Albion hangs in the balance of their actions.

"I was amazed by both the story and the actual music of this opera and I can only strongly recommend it to anyone."  Ravenheart's Nest

"I love musicals, and whilst you always tend to hear about the West End side of things, there’s some crackers out there that don’t get the acclaim that they should.  One such example is The Dolls of New Albion by Paul Shapera which brings Steampunk to the fore with themes explored within that is part Frankenstein, part spirit of man.  Its quirky, the various acts blend together with a wonderful recurrent theme. Add to this some cracking lyrics snippets and all in all this album is something unique and different. Great stuff.” -Gareth Wilson, Falcata Times

“Shapera (who also goes by the name Mocha Lab) has created a fantastical steampunk world that is riddled with fascinating characters intertwined in a mulch-generational struggle for love, sacrifice, and Elysium. Shapera shows mastery for blending absurd quirkiness with moving and powerful sincerity.” -
